What is recorded here

Situated in the interior of Cahermore cashel (CL010-073----). Indicated by a small rectangle in the N centre of the cashel on the 1897 OS 25-inch plan and the 1920 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, with the label ‘Cave’. This Man-made underground passage was described by Westropp (1896, 366) as orientated NW-SE, and located in the NW interior of the cashel, c. 3.66m from the wall. No clear traces of the Man-made underground passage were found during an inspection in 1999, but a low grassy hummock in the W interior of the cashel was noted as a possible archaeological feature.
