Causeway in Lough Carra

In narrow neck of water in Lough Carra, causeway (MA100-159----) to E. Eighty-four timber posts set in lake bed extend (L 124m; Wth 2-4m) from lake shore along lake bed, orientated W-E, ending at hard ground. Posts follow roughly double row pattern at begining and end, with cluster around mid point of causeway. Two wood samples both revealed indigenous oak. Sample (Q8516) gave an end date of 1101 BC with an estimated felling date of 1069+/-9 BC or later. Sample (Q8641) gave an end date of 1571 BC with an estimated felling date of 1539+/-9 BC or later.
