What is recorded here
Detached four-bay single-storey vernacular house, built c.1800, having flat-roofed twentieth-century porch to front, and flat-roofed addition to rear. Pitched reed-thatched roof with scolloped blocked ridge and rendered chimneystack and rendered copings. Whitewashed rendered walls with slight batter. Square-headed replacement timber windows with decorative render surrounds. Garden to front vounded by low rendered walls and yard to rear with concrete surface.
This is a good example of a thatched house typical of this part of County Galway. The retention of its thatched roof and of relatively small window openings enhances its architectural and technical interest.
