What is recorded here
Castle is an unclassified castle in Kiltallaghan, County Kilkenny. Its name and form suggest a fortified house, yet no clearer description has survived to say whether it was a hall, a tower or a boundary marker. That gap makes the place harder to dismiss, because an unknown castle may still be hiding in the land, waiting for someone to stop calling it a mistake.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
