Cody’s Bridge in County Kilkenny may have concealed a castle belonging to the McOdos or Codys, alias Archdeacons. Rev. Moore wrote in 1851 that its foundations were still visible about 59 years earlier, yet the exact spot has slipped from the land. That absence makes the bridge feel less like a crossing and more like a forgotten chamber door.

Located c. 400m E of the E perimeter of the medieval Thomastown (KK028-040----). Carrigan (1905, vol. 4, 258) quotes the notes of Rev. Moore, dated 1851, which mention, ‘at Cody’s bridge [KK028-089001-], stood a castle of the McOdos or Codys, alias Archdeacons. Its foundations were to be seen standing about 59 years ago’. Cody's Bridge is indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map as ‘Monteen or Cody’s Br.’ but the castle is not indicated.
