What is recorded here

Marked only on the 1915 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a slight NE-facing slope of a NW-SE spur, c. 400m W of the W shore of Kilmore Bay on Lough Ree. This is a rectangular overgrown platform (dims 20.7m NW-SE; 13m NE-SW; H 0.9m at SW) with the remains of a wall footing on the NE side defined by a scarp with traces of a fosse, best preserved towards the NW end of the SW side (Wth of base 1.3m; D 0.5m). There is a causeway (Wth 2.2m) across the fosse at the centre of the SW side. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
