What is recorded here

Enclosure in Carrowcrom is gone, erased by reclamation, but it resisted forgetting long enough to appear on the 1922 map as a thirty-metre walled circle on a south-east slope. The earlier 1838 map withheld it, perhaps because the land had already changed or the drawer saw through it. A standing stone still waits one hundred and forty metres north, pointing back across pasture toward the hole where the enclosure stood.

In pasture, on the SE-facing slope of a rise in undulating terrain. This enclosure is not indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map; it is shown on 1922 edition as a sub-circular or polygonal walled enclosure (diam. c. 30m), with an arc of hachuring immediately outside the wall on the E side.
