Why this matters
St Fechin (Fechtinn) was a 7th-century Irish monk and saint associated with the foundation of monastic sites in County Roscommon and surrounding areas; his wells were traditionally visited for their healing properties, particularly for eye and skin ailments. The presence of multiple wells in the vicinity suggests a widespread veneration of the saint, with local folklore often linking them to miraculous cures and protective blessings.
