What is recorded here

Carrickabraghy castle stands in Donegal, but eleven metres north a forgotten pile of rubble waits for meaning. The tower house probably dates to the 16th century, yet the smaller structure beside it has no name, room or purpose recorded. Perhaps it was a kitchen, chapel or prison chamber for the castle.

Located 11m N of Carricknabraghy castle, a tower house (DG003-002001-). Lacy (1983) records that ‘A pile of rubble 11m N of the keep is probably the remains of some other structure.’ This structure may be associated with the tower house, which probably dates to the 16th century.
