Carnaghliss in County Antrim holds a medieval moated site, its flooded boundary drawn around a home or stronghold that no longer stands. The ditch may have kept rainwater clean for people inside or stopped unwanted visitors from approaching. Either way the earth was shaped to control access, and that much still shows through the ground.
