Fooran Well is a hidden spring in flat Offaly pasture, recorded beside a lost medieval church and castle on Croghan hill. It disappeared from common memory, perhaps swallowed by grass or forgotten by the people who once drank from it. The water still moves under the field, waiting for someone to remember the place it belongs to.

Surface spring which rises in flat pasture land. Well is unenclosed and has no features of archaeological interest (OS Letters Vol. I 113). No surface trace visible of well which was located on the W facing slope of Croghan hill with medieval church (OF010-010) and castle (OF010-010) to the N and NW.
