What is recorded here

Towards the top of a gentle S-facing slope at the E end of a slight WNW-ESE ridge. D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 31.2m E-W; 18.8m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.3m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1m) NE-S and by a scarp (H 1-1.3m) S-NW. It is separated by a flat-bottomed fosse (Wth of top 5.5-6.8m; Wth of base 3.5-4m; D 0.2-0.6m) from an outer bank (Wth 2.4-3.5m; ext. H 0.2-0.8m) and outer fosse (Wth of base 4-6m; ext. D 0.1-0.2m) NE-S-NW. All features have been removed by quarrying NW-NE, and faint traces of a third bank have been recorded at SE and SW (Gannon 1972). There is no identifiable original entrance (max. ext. diam. 62m E-W). Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
