Why this matters

A Neolithic burial, likely c. 4000–2500 BCE, discovered during construction in 1972; its presence indicates early human settlement and funerary practices in the region.

What is recorded here

In pasture, in area of outcropping limestone, immediately N of dry-stone field wall. No visible surface trace evident of burials discovered when bungalow built here in 1972 and site subsequently archaeologically investigated (Wallace 1972, 59-60). Investigation concluded that 'this was some sort of mass burial of the victims of some form of plague or fatal epidemic'; there was no evidence for the date of this mass burial.
