What is recorded here
On a gentle N-facing slope in the grounds of Strokestown Workhouse. Rath (RO029-013001-) was used as the Burial Ground of the Strokestown Workhouse, which was c. 100m to the N and which has now been removed without trace. The graveyard is a rectangular overgrown area (dims c. 65m NNE-SSW; c. 55m WNW-ESE) defined by masonry walls with an entrance gate towards the W end of the N wall. There is no visible evidence of burial, although there is a memorial at the entrance.
