What is recorded here
Situated on the level coastal plain that borders Tralee Bay, c. 275m from the seashore, ringfort KE036-011---- was levelled c. 10 years ago and only a barely discernible raised area now marks its location.
When visited by the Co. Kerry Field Club (1946, 672), an oblong foundation, 35 feet (10.6m) x 20 feet (6m), occupied the centre of the enclosure and in the W sector there was a blocked up opening to a Man-made underground passage.
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 719. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
