Tardebigge Top Lock marks the summit of the longest lock flight in the United Kingdom, consisting of 30 locks. Between 1810 and 1814, it was the site of an innovative but ultimately unsuccessful experiment with a man-powered boat lift, aimed at improving navigation efficiency on the Birmingham Canal Navigations.
