Tom Sayers was the heavyweight boxing champion of England from 1860 to 1863 and is considered one of the founding figures of modern boxing. He is remembered for popularizing the sport and for his famous quote, “It’s a man’s game – it takes a game man to play it,” which reflects his philosophy of fair play and sportsmanship.
