This green commemorative plaque records: St Mary the Less Built in the Perpendicular style with later Victorian additions, it is only of only three surviving medieval churches in Thetford. The grave of Sir Richard Fulmerston (died 1566), the founder of the nearby Almshouse and Grammar School, lies in the churchyard. Recorded plaque organisation: Thetford Town Council.
St Mary the Less is one of only three surviving medieval churches in Thetford, notable for its Perpendicular style architecture with Victorian additions; it houses the grave of Sir Richard Fulmerston (died 1566), a local benefactor who established an almshouse and grammar school nearby.
