Standing stone in Brackyle

Standing stone

Why this matters

A local standing stone or piece of rock art; wider significance not recorded.

What is recorded here

On a gentle SE-facing slope, in reclaimed pasture, on the floodplain of the Reask River which is 300m to SE and 90m to SW of a townland boundary with Coolnapisha. Situated within enclosure (LI024-134----). Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Monument surveyed by the ASI in 2008 and described as a single, upright standing stone (H 1.24m) of limestone which is subrectangular-shaped in plan (L 0.4m; Wth 0.34m) and is orientated NW-SE along its long-axis. The elevations have an uneven surface and the stone leans slightly to N, possibly due to animal scratching. Monument is visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken 2011-2013 and on Google Earth orthoimage taken 28/06/2018. See attached Google Earth orthoimage taken 28/06/2018.
