Manwar Ings

Castle

What is recorded here

Manwar Ings is a circular motte and bailey castle in Boston, England, dating from the Medieval period. The earthwork measures 56m in diameter and remains covered in grass, with a double ditch reaching 2.5m deep. Local tradition claims Turkil, the Dane, resided there during the reign of Canute. A small air raid shelter now hides inside the south-western part of the motte.
Manwar Ings is shown as a castle on the public map of Boston. The saved point is the map point or the centre of its mapped shape.
