This blue commemorative plaque records: William Henry Wheeler 1832 to 1915 Until 1974 these buildings housed the Boston Rural District Council. The original house was designed in 1885 for and by the Borough architect and harbour engineer WH Wheeler. In 1871 he designed the peoples park Lincolnshire first public park. William Henry Wheeler (1832-1915) was a prominent Borough architect and harbour engineer who significantly contributed to the development of Boston, designing key public works such as Lincolnshire's first public park in 1871 and the Boston Docks in 1884. He is also remembered for his expertise in drainage and his historical writings on the Fens of South Lincolnshire.
