What is recorded here

Situated in a green space within a housing development. Prior to excavation was noted as open pasture within the old St Helen's estate. The pasture sloped gently from S to N towards the sea, some 1100m to the N; the site itself is located between the 34m and 35.5m contours. A circular feature identified in a CUCAP (AVS 261) image. Testing in 1990 showed the feature be a tree-ring. The ditch measured approximately 51.5m in overall (external) diameter, 2.2m in width and 1.7m in depth and varying between U-shaped and truncated V-shaped in section (Halpin, A.1991, 24).
