This blue commemorative plaque records: 251 Whitegate Drive Built 1900 The home of Cornelius Bagot 1924-1940 He Gifted Little Marton Windmill (Grade II Listed) together with 315sq yards of land on 30th October 1937 in trust as a perpetual memory to local author Allen Clarke. Cornelius Bagot was knocked down by a taxi near this house on his 61st birthday 9th August 1940 During the W.W.2 Blackout. Recorded plaque organisation: Blackpool Civic Trust.
Cornelius Bagot, resident of 251 Whitegate Drive from 1924 to 1940, is remembered for gifting Little Marton Windmill and surrounding land as a memorial to local author Allen Clarke in 1937. Bagot tragically died on his 61st birthday in 1940 when he was struck by a taxi during World War II blackout conditions.
