Perera merchant Recorded plaque organisation: Birmingham Civic Society, Warwickshire Tennis Players, Calthorpe Estates, Calthorpe Residents Society.
Major Harry Gem and Juan Bautista Luis Augurio Perera are credited with originating lawn tennis in 1865, combining elements of real tennis and racquets into a new game played on grass courts, thus laying foundational rules for the modern sport of tennis.
