Clearance cairns on the Dingle Peninsula record loss of shape, not invention of story. In Coill Bhaile Uí Fhlaithimh, a quadrant of stone lies bounded by what remains of a field wall, with a short line of horizontal stones projecting from its ruined edge. That much is visible. What is missing is the hands that moved the stone, the wall they changed, and the reason the debris was left standing instead of buried under grass.
