What is recorded here

On a rise in otherwise low-lying grassland. Subcircular ringfort (NW-SE 55m, NE-SW 50m), in fair condition, defined by a bank which is stone-faced internally and best preserved at NE and W. A scarp forms the enclosing element from ENE to E. A gap at S, although modern, may have provided original access. A road encircles the monument from SSW through W to NW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
