Field system

What is recorded here

Poulnabrone, Poulnabrucky, Poulnaskagh, Baur North, Baur South and Poulanine mark a 2.2km field system across the central Burren uplands. It contains three wedge tombs, eight cairns, five cashels and several enclosures, while similar fields likely continue beneath the scrub. People may have moved through these ancient boundaries for generations, reading ownership, season and memory in stones others had already set.
In the central Burren uplands. A field system visible on OSi Aerial Premium (2013-2018) orthophotographs stretching c. 2.2km N-S from Poulnabrucky at NW across Baur North and South to Poulanine at SE. Three wedge tombs, 8 cairns, 5 cashels and well as several enclosures are within this field system. Field systems with prehistoric and medieval elements extend over most of the Burren uplands. Those currently visible on aerial or satellite imagery are outlined for mapping purposes but it is likely that they continue under scrub and meet in certain areas.
