Why this matters

A Neolithic ring-barrow; part of a dispersed burial tradition in the Bruff area. Its presence indicates early agrarian settlement and ritual practices in the region.

What is recorded here

In pasture 100m E of the townland boundary with Ballynaclogh. Ring-barrow (LI024-229----) located 50m to E and ring-barrow (LI024-187----) 180m to S. Not depicted on the OS maps. Identified by Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 43(01); AP 4/3673) as a circular crop mark. Outline of monument visible as a circular shaped area defined by a ditch on OSi orthophotos 2005-2012.
