Barrow, ditch barrow

What is recorded here

In wet pasture 50m N of the townland boundary with Balline. One of three possible ditch-barrows (LI040-065001/003-) located in close proximity. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Identified as a possible barrow on Bord Gáis Éireann aerial photographs taken 03/11/1984 (1:5,000 No. 2555). No surface remains visible on Digital Globe orthophoto taken between 2011-13. A clearing in the vegetation visible on Google Earth orthoimage dated 14/09/2019 may indicate feature identified on Bord Gáis Éireann aerial photograph. See attached Bord Gáis Éireann aerial photograph and Google Earth orthoimage. Compiled by: Martin Fitzpatrick Date of upload: 25 May 2021
Ditch barrow, likely dating to the Early Bronze Age. Its presence with two others nearby suggests a significant ritual or funerary landscape, though specific wider significance remains unrecorded.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
