What is recorded here

Wentworth Castle Gardens is a Grade I registered park where Thomas Wentworth built a rival monument to his cousin in the early 1700s. He carved formal gardens and a mock castle above the valley, weaving global trade and political ambition into every stone. The house later became a college while the gardens decayed, but a new trust restored the land and returned the valley to public life.
The National Heritage List for England records Wentworth Castle Gardens as a registered park or garden at Grade I. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
