Poll Ballynahown is a two-thousand-foot cave beneath the western flank of Knockauns where a narrow stream forces explorers to crawl through monotonous, meandering darkness. University of Bristol spelaeologists surveyed the pitch and sump in 1968, then replaced the farmer's boulders at the entrance so local cattle would not fall into the waiting water.
