What is recorded here

No visible boundary exists today, yet faint perpendicular lines still cross the pasture west of the watercourse. They may be abandoned field edges or forgotten drainage ditches, but the right-angle layout suggests people shaped the land before the grass erased the proof. The region retained a ghost of human measurement long after memory left it behind.

In improved pasture immediately W of a watercourse that marks the townland boundary with Knockderk. Not depicted on historic OSi maps. Identified by Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 62; AP 4/3616) as a possible field system. Faint pattern of linear cropmarks, some perpendicular to each other, covering an area c. 220m N-S x 250m E-W visible on OSi orthophotos taken between 2005-2012 and on Google Earth orthoimage dated 18/11/2018. Cropmarks may be the remains of drainage ditches rather than that of a field system as they do not appear to form a clear pattern of fields containing cultivation ridges.
