Ecclesiastical enclosure

Why this matters

A local fairy fort (ringfort/rath); wider significance not recorded.

What is recorded here

On a broad terrace on a long, gentle, W-facing slope in tillage. The 1st ed. (1838) of the OS 6-inch map shows a large, sub-circular area (est. diam. c. 100m), defined by a curving field boundary, named 'Glebe', and containing a church site (KD013-005002-) and graveyard (KD013-005003-) in the NE sector. The latest ed. (1911) of the OS 6-inch map shows that the enclosing boundary had been removed between NNE and S. According to the landowner, the surviving enclosing element, which he remembered as 'a hedge', was removed c. 1985 during land improvement works. No visible surface trace survives.
