What is recorded here

No visible stone ringfort survives in Ballynacloghy, though a large oval place may have stood there before field work and time erased it. The lost boundary may have marked a home, a boundary, a shrine or a warning, depending on which part of the townland spoke first. What is certain is that the earth still holds the shape of human intention, even when the stones no longer answer back.

On a N-facing slope in undulating grassland. Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 175, no. 13a) as an ‘extremely ruinous’ oval ‘Stone fort’ (62m N-S; 53.4m E-W) which was obscured by field debris.
