What is recorded here

Walled garden, built c. 1855, with rubble limestone walls having curved north-west and south-east corners and dressed limestone copings. Segmental-headed pedestrian entrance to north with stepped render surround and decorative cast-iron gate. Square-headed pedestrian entrance to south with red brick voussoirs and surround and decorative cast-iron gate. Two-bay single-storey lean-to green house to north with brick plinth walls, corrugated plastic cladding and roofing and square-headed fixed timber windows. Gabled structure to north with petal slate pitched roof having decorative timber bargeboards and finial to front, and rubble limestone walls.
This walled garden serves as a reminder of the range of demesne-related activities once associated with country houses in Ireland. The solidly constructed walls are enlivened by the render surround to the entrance, which retains its highly decorative cast-iron gate. The curved form is unusual and the buildings to the interior add interest to the site. The garden would have provided a wide variety of produce for Bellevue House and forms a group with the outbuildings and entrance gate.
