What is recorded here

Indicated is a scrub-covered circular earthwork in wet County Limerick pasture, sitting ninety metres south of the holy well Tobar Cinn Mhóir. It appeared on maps only after 1840, suggesting the land itself kept the shape private until human tools learned to see it. The nearby fair green and sacred water imply a place where people gathered, prayed or played before forgetting the name.

OSi 25-inch map as a small circular-shaped area defined by a scarp. Monument visible as a scrub-covered circular-shaped area on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages. A rectangular shaped area defined by a fosse is visible on Google Earth orthoimage dated 19/03/2015, however this feature may represent drainage channels associated with land reclamation works.
