What is recorded here

In N quadrant of a conifer plantation, immediately S of a road running E-W that forms townland boundary with Ballyfroota. Enclosure (LI049-104----) lies 295m to the W. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a raised oval-shaped area defined by a scarp. Shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised circular shaped area (diam. c. 21) defined by a scarp and fosse. In 1840 the Ordnance Survey recorded this monument as one of 'four forts' in the townland (OSNB Abbeyfeale to Bruree, 191). Monument visible as circular-shaped area enclosed by a tree lined fosse on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages. See attached Google Earth orthoimages.
