Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records U 110 as Submarine (first World War)-(1918). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
U 110 was a German U-boat (Type U 31) that was captured by the British in 1917 and later sunk near the Isle of Man in 1918. It was lost following a collision with the British steamship SS *Hesperus*, resulting in the deaths of three crew members; the submarine was carrying no significant cargo. Its wreck is of historical significance as it represents one of the few captured German U-boats lost in the First World War.
