What is recorded here

Wester Kames Castle is a four-storey tower near Kames Bay that changed hands twice before Robert Weir Schultz rebuilt it in 1897. A line of brickwork still marks where the old ruin ended and his new stone began. The Spense family lived there first, the Marquess of Bute owned it later, and the narrow stair tower rises half a storey above the main roof like a finger pointing at the Bute sky.
Wester Kames Castle is shown as a castle on the public map of Argyll and Bute. The saved point is the map point or the centre of its mapped shape.
Wester Kames Castle was built by the Campbell family in the 17th century and is remembered as a historic seat of the Clan Campbell in Argyll. Its importance lies in its association with one of Scotland's most influential noble families.
