Castle Lachlan is a ruined fifteenth-century stronghold on the shore of Loch Fyne, built by Clan Maclachlan and occupied by their chiefs until a newer castle replaced it in 1790. Its stones mark a long line of local power, conflict and loyalty, while nearby Kilmorie Chapel still holds the graves of those chiefs. The ruin preserves the shape of a household that lived, fought and buried its dead beside the water for generations.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Lachlan as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Built by the Clan Lachlan in the 14th or 15th century, Castle Lachlan is remembered as a historic stronghold associated with the Scottish clan system and the region's medieval military and social structures.
