Craignish Castle is a 16th-century tower house on the Argyll coast, built for the Campbell family and later expanded by the Trench-Gascoigne family. It withstood a six-week siege by Colkitto MacDonald, while a bottle dungeon still waits beneath the kitchen floor. Children evacuated from Glasgow sheltered there during the second world war, and the castle now holds private apartments inside its old walls.
