Likely dating to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, the Baliscate standing stone on Mull may have functioned as a territorial marker, ceremonial focus, or astronomical alignment point. Local folklore sometimes associates such stones with ancient druidic practices or protective charms against supernatural forces.
