Associated with St. Kieran of Ossory. In an upland area. Remains of an ancient altar built of stone and clay mortar situated against the E gable in the interior of the church (LA022-013001-) (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 129-130). There are no surface remains of this altar visible today. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P. David Sweetman, Olive Alcock and Bernie Moran.
