Milk of Magnesia may have cured half the empire, but James Murray starved because he refused to patent the recipe. He gave the formula away freely, died penniless in County Antrim, and left behind a digestive remedy still sold worldwide. The blue plaque at 16 High Street exists because someone finally decided that generosity should be remembered instead of laughed at.
