What is recorded here

Annaghmacmanus holds a post-medieval fortification dating to the seventeenth century, when armed conflict turned ordinary Irish land into a chessboard of stone and doubt. The structure may have guarded a lane, a household, or a narrow valley chokepoint, forcing invaders to reveal themselves before violence began. Its stones no longer carry banners or gunpowder smell, but they still mark the moment fear shaped the horizon and ordinary people built walls against the dark.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as FORTIFICATION. Recorded period: POST-MED; C17TH. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
