What is recorded here

Situated on a gentle W-facing slope overlooking the River Shannon. This is the site of an early monastery called Enach Dubh and the medieval parish church of Annaduff (LE032-054001-) and its graveyard (LE032-054002-) are an ecclesiastical enclosure identified through remote sensing techniques in the field NW of the old graveyard (Curran 2016; 2019, 57-8). This identified three if not four parallel arcs of what are likely to be ditch features placed 18m, 14m and 11m apart and centred on the old church. If the arcs are entire they would enclose a large area (diam. c. 100m). Archaeological testing (94E0051) on the line of the N4 road c. 100m to the NE of the church and outside the area of the ecclesiastical enclosure failed to record any related archaeological features (Opie 1995e).
