Strathmartine Castle is a colonial style farmhouse built circa 1785 by Captain David Laird on or near the lost castle site in Angus. Laird returned from the American War of Independence, improved the estate, and erected new cottages beside his own house. The older castle has no positive trace left, yet it appeared on a 1678 map and was called a good house in a 1684 account. The new building still stands with twin bows, harled rubble walls, and gatepiers that mark the entrance like a small proud threshold.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Strathmartine Castle as Farmhouse (period Unassigned), Lairds House (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Strathmartine Castle was a medieval stronghold associated with the de Morville family, later held by the Keiths, and dates primarily to the 13th or 14th century. It is remembered for its strategic location in Angus and its historical links to prominent Scottish noble families.
