Colliston Castle is a 16th-century tower house north of Arbroath, built with two round corner towers and a stair turret that still points a watch-chamber at the sky. It belonged to Arbroath Abbey before passing to the Guthries, then the Gordons, and later several private families who kept living inside its old walls. The house was changed in the 18th and 19th centuries, sold again in the 20th century, and is now let for holiday stays, so a visitor may sleep where gun-loops and old doorways still mark the shape of the place.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Colliston Castle as Tower House (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Colliston Castle was built as a medieval tower house, likely by a local landholding family in the 15th or 16th century. It is remembered as an example of typical Scottish defensive architecture from the period.
