What is recorded here

In pasture, on an E-facing slope overlooking Ballinafad Bay in Lough Arrow. A raised rectangular area (int. dims. 17m x 15m) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 2.1m). There are gaps (Wth 1.5m) in the N and E sides. According to local information, this enclosure was used as a children's burial ground (SL040-141001-). A church and graveyard (SL040-171001-, SL040-171002-) lie immediately to S, on the opposite side of the road. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
