Burnt spread in Afaddy OR Silverspring

Burnt spread

What is recorded here

Five burnt spreads mark the valley floor, but this one remains a seventeen-metre mound of fire-cracked stones and charcoal. It sits beside two springs and a stream, suggesting people gathered water and heat in the same shallow dish. The black soil still holds the shape of repeated flames, while the nearby ridge watches the valley like a quiet judge.
In a flat valley at the base of a NE-facing slope of a NW-SE ridge, running down to a stream. There is a spring 14m to the SE and another one 18m to the S. One of five burnt spreads (KK042-054----; KK042-055----; KK042-056----; KK042-057----; KK042-058----) identified along this valley floor. A slightly raised mound (dims. 17m; H 0.7m) of burnt material consisting of fire-cracked stones and charcoal in a black soil matrix (min. D 0.25m).
